I am looking forward to Borderlands 2 _a lot_, and this video just has me even more excited:

A hands-on with a chunk of the game reveals more info here.

Nick sent me this via email this morning:

Which is the second music video I've seen recently that I was impressed by (the first being the Amanda Palmer one in today's link post). Are there lots of awesome music videos out there I'm just not aware of?

And then this, which nicely illustrates that the only constant is change:
2072: ''It's UNFAIR that a PROFESSIONAL LIVESTOCKER should have to figure out how to gelatinize brainwave cubeforms JUST to make a living these days!''

And lastly, I love this house:

You can see more by the same designer here.

(Tasks managed this morning: paid photographer, paid DJ, deleted 70-odd emails. Still to-do: delete 200 more emails, wash lots of clothes, eat lunch, buy food so that I can eat lunch.)

Coming back after a week away, to find this in the fridge:

Not shown: dead flowers, the _other_ off milk, and the saucepan that had been left with about 3mm of water and rice starch in it, which is apparently a perfect breeding ground for fungus.

(Avoiding the tidying up by posting photos of milk on my journal? I don't know what you mean...)

I was hoping, that despite my dislike for Microsoft's app policies*, that they would make their phone system a success, and we'd thus have more competition. Much though I like Android, I'd like there to be three main players so that there's constant pressure on all of them to improve.

But unless Windows Phone 8 is a startling success, this isn't looking very likely:

I shall have to hope that Firefox OS takes off instead, which would at least provide an open alternative.

*You can only install from the Microsoft app store, and they have policies in place against adult content of any kind.

I currently have a wodge of data up on geni.com, tracing back my family for a few generations.

Sadly, I've gone over 100 people in my family tree, and Geni now want users to pay for their service. Not unreasonable, but I'm not willing to pay $5.00 per month for something I don't actually use that much. I'd happily pay $10/year though.

Any recommendations? I don't want much out of it - just a place to store a family tree with simple editing tools for adding more info and bringing it up to date when necessary.
