Oh is the CMS that the article refers to inside them? That's barmy. Indeed, they should be as dumb as possible and just receive data.

Though if the new systems are the same as the big screen that's been at the bus stop at the top of Waverley Steps for a few years, then that's AWFUL. Can't read it in sunlight, have to wait around for it to show the information, and there's a glaring bug in how the buses for the different routes are handled.
